Glastonbury Festival ready for the rain
Published Wednesday, Jun 20 2007, 08:30 BST | By Dave West
Glastonbury Festival looks set to be wet and muddy - but organisers have said they are better prepared then ever.
The Met Office has forecast storms and heavy showers for this weekend after an already soggy few days.
Forecaster Stewart Wortley commented: "Given that we've got a wet week, I think it's going to be the normal quagmire."
However, founder and boss Michael Eavis said drainage had been upgraded since terrible flooding in 2005.
He explained: "We've probably spent £100,000 on the drainage and the flood relief stuff and everything.
"We've got huge concrete pipes that will take the water from A to B and take it to the river and then it goes to Burnham-on-Sea, so it's a great system.
"So we're almost looking forward to the rain, in order to see the pipes working after all this investment."
Meanwhile, the last band at the festival has been confirmed as Hard-Fi. The group will headline the Leftfield tent on Saturday as part of the Love Music Hate Racism campaign.
