Fergie denies product placement story

Published Saturday, Jul 7 2007, 09:32 BST | By Daniel Kilkelly
R&B star Fergie has denied claims that she plans to advertise a clothing range in her new songs.

A recent tabloid report said that the Black Eyed Peas singer would give name-checks to US clothing firm Candie's in songs for her second album, after signing a $4 million deal with the company.

However, a spokesperson for the star explained: "There is absolutely no truth in the media reports that Fergie has agreed to product placement in her songs. She does have a commercial deal with the clothing brand Candie's, but it has nothing whatsoever to do with the creation of her music."

A Candie's representative added: "Contrary to recent false reports in the media, the company does not have any arrangement with Fergie whereby she will incorporate the Candie's brand into her lyrics."
