The B-52's have announced that they are close to completing their first album in 15 years.

The 'Love Shack' rockers returned to their hometown of Atlanta, Georgia to record their follow-up to 1992's Good Stuff, which will be released early next year.

Singer Fred Schneider said: "We all lived down there for two months and just got back in the swing of things. There's more electronica on the album. It's up-tempo and a bit sexed-up. It's sexier than ever."

Schneider, Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson, Ricky Wilson and Keith Strickland formed the B-52’s in 1976, dubbing themselves ‘The World’s Greatest Party Band’. However, they were touched by tragedy in 1986 when guitarist Ricky Wilson died of an AIDS-related illness.

The party-rockers continued as a four-piece, scoring their greatest success in 1989 when their Cosmic Thing LP became a multi-platinum smash and launched the hit singles ‘Roam’ and ‘Love Shack’.
