The Foundations singer, who released her debut album Made Of Bricks today, admitted that fans can expect a change in the style of her music when her next CD hits the shelves.
"I've now got about 20 books that I carry with me full of prose, monologues, poetry and lyrics," Kate told the Daily Star. "When I am inspired I may write a page of c**p and then grab a line or two for a song. The songs are definitely more grown up, but don't worry - I'm gonna stay true to myself."
Kate has been at number two in the UK chart for the past three weeks, but she is remaining modest about her recent success.
"Without Top Of The Pops, I'm not sure people know what's going on in the charts," she said. "I don't really listen to the radio so I hope somebody has noticed."
