The Very Best of Mick Jagger is due for release on October 2 and will consist of 17 songs he has previously penned, as well as three new tracks.
So far, the Stones front man has released four other solo LPs and is looking forward to putting the collection together.
Jagger said: "It was such a disparate time with lots of ups and down - fortunately mostly up - like you do generally have in life.
"For me, it's a great thing to listen to since all the songs speak to a certain time and make things come alive for me."
