Cribs stand by indie bands rant

Cribs frontman Ryan Jarman has stood by the rant he made on stage at Glastonbury, where he bemoaned the current state of indie music.

During his band's set on the Other Stage, the rocker claimed that the "attitude" of the current crop of indie bands was a bigger danger to the world than global warming.

Defending his remarks, the singer told NME: "I didn't think anything I was saying was remotely sensationalist. People have just got used to bands not voicing opinions these days.

"You're not supposed to rock the boat. We didn't start for the same reasons as a lot of other bands. When we put out our first record indie bands weren't having hits. It wasn't just about getting famous or wanting to be a pop star. It was purely about artistic reasons. That sounds w**ky but it's true."

Talking about the difference between his band and and a group such as The Kooks, Ross Jarman said: "If you've got two cars, then you look under the bonnet."
