Gabriel given BMI Icon award
Published Monday, Aug 20 2007, 12:51 BST | By Alex Fletcher

The Genesis frontman follows in the footsteps of the Bee Gees and Ray Davies in being given the accolade by the US performing right organisation, which gives out money to stars for their public performances on US TV and radio.
Gabriel's career has spanned eleven solo records and includes soundtracks for the likes of Martin Scorsese's The Last Temptation of Christ.
The singer will receive his award in October at the London Dorchester hotel at the organisation's annual awards ceremony.
