The rockers have been together since 1962 and will finish their two years' worth of performances on Sunday, but reports claim they will announce that it is their final one.
Frontman Sir Mick Jagger, 64, guitarist Keith Richards, 63, drummer Charlie Watts, 66, and guitarist Ronnie Wood, 60, would have to take years to plan another world tour and they would all be approaching 70 by then.
A source said: "We've been told this will be the last tour. Embarking on a Stones world tour takes years to plan. Mick and Keith would be in their late 60s by the time they would be ready to rock once more."
