Bob Dylan song lyrics are among learning material in an education pack for schoolchildren.
Tracks including 'I Dreamed I Saw St Augustine', 'Three Angels' and protest song 'A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall' are included in the information sent out for National Poetry Day.
Students will be asked to study the words and write their own piece, on the theme of dreams, inspired by the great entertainer.
Andrew Motion, the UK's Poet Laureate and a big Dylan fan, told BBC 6 Music: "If you're dealing with a song lyric that does depend on the melody for it's effect then reading it cold on the page is going to be very disappointing.
"Dylan is unique having this extraordinary combination of wonderful melodies with these very interesting words wrapped around them."
He said looking at the singer's work would help some youngsters learn: "I think it will be a real help, particularly to those people that find poetry in the classroom difficult or off-putting or irrelevant.
"I'm not sure how cool Dylan is amongst the people this is aimed at or how much they're listening to him compared to my generation. But that said I think it is a wonderful idea."
