Klaxons beat Winehouse to Mercury Prize

The London band's debut album Myths of the Near Future beat off stiff competition from Amy Winehouse, Jamie T and last year's winners the Arctic Monkeys to take home the prestigious award.
The four-piece collected a cheque for £20,000 from Jools Holland during a ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
Bassist Jamie Reynolds said: "The Mercury Prize is about pushing music forward and this is what we did."
Amy Winehouse made her first public appearance since checking into a US rehabilitation clinic at the event. The troubled singer performed an acoustic version of 'Love Is A Losing Game', a song from her Back to Black album, which had been nominated for the prize.
