By
US band The Features were the big winners at last night's Diesel:U:Music Awards.

The Tennessee four-piece - who have been described as an American version of the Kaiser Chiefs - scooped the Rock/Indie category as well as the Public Vote Award.

The urban category was won by US hip-hop duo Cool Kids, while Isle of Wight-born brothers Get Shakes were named top electronic act.

Joy Division and Factory Records designer Peter Saville were also honoured at the ceremony, which recognises the best unsigned artists in the world.

Saville, who designed some of the most famous album covers of the 1970s and '80s, was given a Contribution to Music Award, while the surviving members of Joy Division received the 4Music Icon Award.

Former Popworld presenters Alex Zane and Alexa Chung hosted the seventh annual event at Koko in Camden, north London.

The rock/indie category was judged by Motley Crue's Nikki Six, producer Butch Walker and Joy Division's Peter Hook; the electronic category by Mylo, DJ Felix Da Housecat and producer Jagz Kooner; and the urban category by Grime MC Wiley, producer Howie B, songwriter Devon Harris and R'n'B star Kelis.
