Goodrem surprised by single's success

Although 'In This Life' was her eighth Australian number one, Goodrem insisted that the success of the track came as a surprise to her because she "never expects anything".
"All I knew was that I love the song and I was really, really happy with it and proud of it and wanted people to hear the music, but I had no idea about going to number one, I just wanted it to be well received and well taken in," Delta told the Brisbane Times.
"But when it went to number one I promise you I was so, so excited. I think I actually screamed down the phone when I got the call and went 'no way'. So we had a nice little champagne the next day, all of us together, all my team, so it was really nice."
She explained that her new album, Delta, is about "accepting change and moving on and letting go".
"I feel that it's a free-spirited album. I feel very much who I am at 22," she said. "It just feels really natural and organic and I feel really in love with it."
Goodrem's new material will be released in the UK next year.
