Fans stormed the stage at the end of a Morrissey gig in New York and showered the singer with gifts.

It came after a high-energy show at the famous Hammerstein Ballroom which attracted fans from around the world.

One shouted out that he had travelled from Doncaster for the concert. Morrissey joked back: "You were here anyway, weren't you? It was raining outside and you thought, 'What the hell I'll see what the old fool's doing!'"

Meanwhile, Canadian band Arcade Fire paid tribute to Morrissey and The Smiths at a show in their home city of Manchester.

Smiths song 'Still Ill' got a special place in their setlist at Manchester's MEN Arena on Saturday.

Singer Win Butler told the crowd the tune "made me want to play music" and added: "I have been sick and better this year and sick again. This song is called 'Still Ill'."
