Former Moloko singer Róisín Murphy is "recovering well" after suffering an eye injury on stage on Saturday night.

The 34-year-old was performing at the Ikra Club in Moscow when she hit her head on a chair and damaged her eye socket.

She was rushed to a Russian hospital for emergency treatment, before flying back to the UK for surgery on Sunday morning.

A spokesman said that "despite serious concussion and losing a lot of blood", Murphy's vision has not been affected.

Her European dates have been cancelled for the next week, but it is hoped that her UK and Irish tour will kick off on November 26 as planned.

The cancelled tour dates will be rescheduled for later in the year, her spokesman added.

Murphy's latest single 'Let Me Know' was released earlier this month.
