The rapper, real name Curtis Jackson, claimed he would quit if his album Curtis sold fewer copies than West's Graduation LP when they both went on sale on the same day.
But when West did come out on top, instead of quitting 50 Cent announced new tour dates and refused to leave the music industry behind him.
50 Cent insisted that he could not quit, saying: "I don’t know if it’s possible for a rapper to retire, rappers are like fighters.
"They condition themselves to be the best. All rappers think they’re the best. And they are just waiting for everyone else to recognise they are the best. You’ll see them come back and back."
