US rockers The Eels have announced plans to release a best of album and rarities collection at the start of next year.

On January 21 the band will release both Essential Eels Vol.1 1996-2006 and Eels Useless Trinkets: B-Sides, Soundtracks, Rarities and Unreleased.

The best of LP comes with a DVD of 12 promotional videos and contains 24 tracks spanning their 10-year career.

Thier rarities collection will feature 50 tracks, including covers of Prince's 'If I Was Your Girlfriend' and Screamin' Jay Hawkins' 'I Put A Spell On You'. It also features a DVD of their performance at the Lollapalooza festival 2006.
