The Love Music Hate Racism campaign called on the singer to clarify the comments he made to the magazine about immigration in the UK last week.
The rocker has responded by pledging his support to the campaign and arguing that NME editor Connor McNicholas was willing to "misstate, misreport, misquote, misinterpret, falsify, and incite the bloodthirsty", with his interview.
In a statement on TrueToYou.net, the former Smiths frontman claims to have contacted the campaign group and revealed that he will now carry their logo on the advertising for his 2008 tour.
He will also allow them space at his concerts to "spread their important message, which I endorse".
