Girls Aloud are desperate for first Brit
Girls Aloud are desperate to win their first ever Brit Award, say reports.

Cheryl Cole has revealed that the group are keen to win any of the gongs at the February awards ceremony.

She told the Daily Star: "We want to win a Brit in 2008. It’s really as simple as that.

"Best Band, Best Album - it doesn’t matter which, but it would be nice to have one on the mantlepiece because that’s the one award everyone wants."

The girl group have never won a Brit, but were nominated for the Best Pop Act accolade in 2005, losing out to McFly.

A friend of Cole, who attended a Spice Girls reunion gig with the singer, added: "Cheryl was really looking forward to her night out seeing Posh and Co back in action. But she is hoping for good news come the Brits announcement.”

The 2008 Brit Award nominations are announced on January 14.
