Supergrass star explains back injury

Supergrass' Mick Quinn has explained how he broke his back while on holiday in France last year.

The bassist revealed that he feared he wouldn't be able to walk following the accident, which saw him fall out of a first floor window.

Talking about the incident, Quinn told Teletext: "I needed a pee and, stupidly, I didn't turn any lights on.

"I forgot we were on the first floor, mistook a window for a glass door in the dark and stepped through it!"

Quinn added that he would be back playing gigs with the Oxford rockers in February and believes he can improve the group after watching his bandmates perform a series of secret shows without him.

He said: "The weirdest thing in all of this has been watching Supergrass shows.

"I've been taking notes on what we need to do better - we don't talk to the crowd enough. They could use a bassist, too. But, you know what, we're a good band. I'd pay to go and see our concerts."
