A Malaysian popstar has caused outrage by peeling off his shirt during a televised concert.
Faizal Tahir, 29, has been banned from TV station 8TV for six months after he bared his chest to reveal a Superman logo at a show in Kuala Lumpur to mark the channel's birthday.
The government in the largely Muslim country has issued strict guidelines for performers, saying they must be covered from knee to chest and are forbidden from jumping, shouting or embracing fans.
Tahir apologised for offending viewers with the stunt, telling the New Strait Times: "I did not intend to damage the reputation of 8TV, and sincerely apologise to them and all Malaysians.
"I now realise that taking off one's shirt is a big no."
His record label said he will undertake a course of community service to atone for the incident.
Beyoncé Knowles is believed to have pulled out of a gig in Kuala Lumpur last November because of the country's strict dress codes.
Gwen Stefani covered her skin during a performance in August following Islamic protests.
