Franz Ferdinand promise 'dirty pop' album

The Scottish four-piece have been working with Brian Higgins, the producer best known for his work with Girls Aloud, on their follow up to 2005's You Could Have It Better.
"The idea of making a dirty pop record - this is what has been on our minds," frontman Alex Kapranos told Billboard. "It's the opposite of punk/pop, which took something that was wonderful and removed all the dirt."
The currently-untitled album, due for release this summer, is being recorded in the band's native Glasgow. "We've decided we're going to do it up here, ourselves," Kapranos said.
"It's funny, because logically everything is wrong. We should go to a big studio and spend millions. But logic is never appropriate when you're making music. You've got to trust your instincts. This stuff made us want to get up and dance."
