Williams first met Jankel after he became friends with his late bandmate Ian Dury. The 'Rudebox' singer also appeared on the Ian Dury tribute album Brand New Boots And Panties in 2001 alongside The Blockheads.
Jankel has revealed that he is collaborating with Williams in LA and that the former Take That star is on "top form".
He told NME: "Working with Robbie is great - it's extraordinary being part of this songwriting team.
"Kelvin and Danny of Sound 5 are bringing a very sharp yet witty contribution to the affair. Robbie is on top form and the atmosphere is totally conducive to writing great music."
Jankel's bandmate Mickey Gallagher commented: "This is something Robbie should have done a long time ago!"
