The singer announced last week that he was leaving the reggae group after 30 years.
He later claimed that he had been "deeply unhappy" with the band's management and felt the situation had become "intolerable".
But drummer James Brown said he was unhappy that Campbell had announced his departure through a solicitor instead of discussing it with UB40's seven remaining members.
He said: "You would think that after 30 years of working together as a family unit that you could at least talk through these issues."
Campbell's last gigs with the group will be in Australia, New Zealand and Uganda next month.
