Israel scraps 43 year Beatles ban
The Israeli ambassador to London Ron Prossor has invited Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to visit his country, 43 years after the Beatles were banned from performing there.

In 1965 the legendary four-piece were told they couldn't perform in the Middle Eastern nation due to fears they would corrupt the nation's youth.

The ambassador will meet John Lennon's sister Julia Baird in Liverpool later this week and offer her an official letter of apology for the incident.

Prossor has also invited Jerry Goldman, the director of the Beatles Story museum, to visit his homeland.

Goldman told the BBC: "I've got close ties to Israel, so I'm thrilled. It would be fantastic if they did visit."
