Babyshambles' Drew McConnell has claimed that the band are not worried about Pete Doherty's solo career.

The bassist said that Doherty's solo success wouldn't lead to the band splitting and that the group encourage the singer to work alone.

He told BBC 6 Music: "I think it’s good for people in bands to feel that they have the freedom to do other things without people starting to speculate that they are splitting up.

"We embrace Peter doing his own stuff and he knows I play in other bands and he embraces that."

Talking about the group's plans for the summer, he revealed that the group were likely to attend to this year's Reading Festival.

McConnell added: "We have been asked to play Reading I think, and a few other festivals. I think Peter is doing a few solo shows, which is always nice."
