Fellow guitarist Gem Archer and Blur's Graham Coxon have also guested on Weller's new LP.
A source commented: "Noel and Oasis’s Gem Archer have spent time at Weller’s studio. Most sessions end in serious alcohol-fuelled tear-ups. But the music has been brilliant.
"Weller slapped his name on the writing credits first with Noel and Gem - even though he spent most of the session getting the beers in. That’s the bonus of being 50 - and the guv’nor."
Talking about the record, Weller told BBC 6 Music: "There’s rock 'n' roll tunes on there. There’s soul and R'n'B type tunes. A few psychedelic instrumentals - all the things I’m into."
Gallagher briefly took up the drums once before, while playing in the band Tailgunner with Mark Coyle and Paul Stacey in 2000.
