It will be the band's only European festival slot in 2008.
This year's V Festival takes place on August 16-17 on its regular sites in Chelmsford and Stafford.
The Devon-rockers will play Hylands Park, Chelmsford on the Saturday night, and Weston Park, Staffordshire on the Sunday.
Tickets for the event go on sale on March 7 at 10am.
Other acts rumoured to be playing this year's event include The Verve, Coldplay, Hard-Fi and Kasabian.
