Bowie has recorded guest vocals on ‘Fannin’ Street’ and ‘Falling Down’. The album is comprised of ten Tom Waits covers and original track 'Song for Jo'.
Stating her admiration for Waits, the actress said: "His melodies are so beautiful and his voice is so distinct.
"I sent him some of the early, early recordings, and he said, 'Go ahead,'" she explained. "I've heard he's very pleased."
David Bowie hasn't recorded an album since 2003's Reality. He suffered a heart attack in 2004 which forced him to cut short his A Reality Tour. The singer has since made surprise live appearances at an AIDS benefit concert and with Canadian band Arcade Fire.
Anywhere I Lay My Head will be released on May 20.
