The beverage, which is called "Mansinthe" and features a self-portrait of Manson on the label, was met with unenthusiastic reviews by a tasting panel.
The biggest complaints came regarding the drink's aroma.
"If a smell could speak, this absinthe is saying 'Do not touch,'" noted one taster.
Another said the drink "smells too strong, (like) rubbing alcohol".
The review concluded by saying: "Some verbally compared (Mansinthe) to sewage water or swamp mud, but with the exception of a lone taster, the panel felt it wasn't really worth wading through the odour to get to mediocre flavour."
Absinthe is illegal in the US but Manson's drink is distilled in Switzerland. The distributors have made the drink available through a German website.
