Crow: 'I'm not afraid to be political'
Published Tuesday, Feb 19 2008, 15:35 GMT | By Alex Fletcher

The US singer altered the lyrics to her single 'Steve McQueen' in 2002 from "We've got liars in the White House", replacing the word "liars" with "rockstars".
However, Crow said that she now feels compelled to speak her mind when it comes to political issues.
She told CNN: "It was almost like, 'OK, the gauntlet's been thrown. I'm going in'. I'm not the only one that feels the way I feel. And I don't feel afraid to say the way I feel."
On Crow's new Detours album she sings that George Bush "spoke words of comfort with tears in his eyes/Then he led us as a nation into a war all based on lies".
A spokesperson for Crow's label commented: "She's not afraid...of running from what's happening in the world today.
"Sheryl, as an artist, has the ability to do what few artists can do."
