The singer received the British Breakthrough Act prize at the Brit Awards last month, after making an impressive debut in 2007 with his Life In Cartoon Motion album. He is now hard at work on its follow-up, but he has "no idea" about when it will be released.
"Let's not kid about it, it's not going to be easy. The first one was no way easy," he told the Daily Record. "However, I am obsessed with it and I want to make it good. I have absolutely no idea of when it will come out, though.
"I seem to have more of a sense of humour about it than most people. I just think as long as it is musically intense, really melodic and it tells a story. It has to be an evolution. I completely understand the responsibility I have in continuing the sonic style that I have created. That's not something that scares me."
Asked if he plans to include any duets on his next album, Mika replied: "I'm not interested in dusting my album sleeve with gold. I don't want to borrow from other people."
