Arcade Fire have shown their support for US presidential candidate Barack Obama by arranging two free shows in Nelsonville and Cleveland ahead of primary voting in the state of Ohio.

Obama, who already has backing from high-profile celebs including Will Smith and Will.i.am, now has several members of the Canadian band as supporters.

Singer Win Butler, along with wife Regine Chassagne, Will Butler and Jeremy Gara, gave their first show yesterday and will play a second at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio tonight.

Though Arcade Fire are largely known as a Canadian act, the Butler brothers were born and raised in America while Chassagne has dual Canadian-US citizenship.

The band are thought to be considering taking legal action against the Fox television network after they used their track 'No Cars Go' without permission during the Superbowl.
