Numan prefers "worms" to nostalgia tour

By
Gary Numan has claimed that he would rather "eat worms" than go on an '80s nostalgia tour.

The electro-pop star said that despite financial difficulties he had no regrets about turning down offers to perform his old hits.

He told The Mirror: "Me? Join in on the '80s revival? I'd rather eat worms. I've absolutely no interest in going back to the '80s.

"I was there the first time so it's got nothing new to offer. I've always refused to do anything connected to the '80s, any TV shows or retro tours, and I play very little old stuff at my gigs.

"That would be looking backwards and I've always been more interested in what's happening tomorrow."

Numan admitted that he even spurned the chance to appear on The Big Breakfast in the '90s when he was "massively" in debt because he didn't want to tarnish his image.

The 'Cars' singer commented: "I was asked to go on The Big Breakfast a good few times to sing a duet of 'Are Friends Electric?' with Zoe Ball.

"I desperately needed the money because I was massively in debt and the only thing in my house was a tiny portable telly on a stool. But I still thought 'there's no way I'm doing that'. And I've no regrets."
