The Prime Minister branded the Grammy-winning star, who was reportedly diagnosed with impetigo earlier this week, "as talented as she is misunderstood".
He told the Daily Mirror: "Amy is incredibly talented, with an incredible voice. I'm a big fan. She may be troubled but as much as anything I think she is simply misunderstood."
Brown also told the newspaper that he enjoys listening to Leona Lewis, Coldplay and U2, as well as classical music from Bach and Mozart, in his free time.
