Jagger says web is good for music

Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger has admitted he thinks the internet is good for new music.

In an interview with MySpace, the 64-year-old said: "It's very easy now to discover music because there (on the internet) you have all this access to it."

Jagger added that he found it "very hard and very expensive" to track down new music outside of the charts.

"I remember it being very difficult to find anything that wasn't in the mainstream of top-selling music. Outside of that it was very hard to find things."

The singer said that the web made it easier to get noticed but new artists face tough competition.

"There's so many bands," Jagger added. "How do you make yourself stick out? Apart from being a brilliant musician, very good looking and a brilliant performer."

The Rolling Stones release Shine A Light, the soundtrack to Martin Scorsese's concert film, on April 7.
