Benn: 'Reading, Leeds better than rest'

Festival Republic boss Melvin Benn has said that Reading and Leeds "blow everything else out of the water".

He claimed that this year's events would be superior to rivals such as Glastonbury, V and T in the Park.

Benn told The Observer: "Reading and Leeds will blow everything else out of the water.

"Festivals have become part of British culture. I don't know any other country that's as obsessed as Britain."

It was confirmed earlier today that The Killers would be heading one of the days at this year's Reading and Leeds Festival.

Singer Brandon Flowers told NME: "We thought it would be a good opportunity to come over and play some of our new songs. We haven't played the new songs off Sawdust either. We always love playing in England."

Metallica, Rage Against The Machine and Queens of the Stone Age are also expected to play the August outdoor shows.
