Lead singer Roy Stride apologised to fans and claimed he was taking "18 tablets a day" to overcome his illness.
Writing on the band's MySpace, Stride said: "I woke up today and I still cannot physically speak. My mouth moves but nothing comes out. It is the weirdest scariest feeling in the world, and has never happened to me before.
"I went to see a proper Harley Street specialist, and I'm now on 18 tablets a day!!! It will be ok for Bristol next Sunday. But it means we will have to reschedule Reading and all three London dates.
"I want to apologise to everyone for the short notice of the Birmingham gig cancellation, I realise how far some of you had travelled. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done."
The 'Elvis Ain't Dead' singer added: "I'll keep you updated regarding my stupid vocal chords.
"We’ll be announcing the new tour dates in the next 24 hours. All tickets will be valid or full refunds from place of purchase."
