Kate Jackson has claimed The Long Blondes are underrated like Blondie because they have a female singer.
The frontwoman praised Debbie Harry's '80s outfit for being musically innovative and argued that a lot of criticism the band received was sexist.
She told NME: "A lot of male bands wouldn't have suffered the criticism they did even if they put out the same sh*t album year after year, which a lot of the new wave bands did.
"Blondie were very innovative but they still don't get that sort of acclaim. I think it's because of the woman thing, you know. I think they've always been a bit underrated.
"They moved on with every album that they did and I'm hoping that's something people will see with us."
Jackson added that a record like Blondie's Parallel Lines was what her band "aspire to make".
