The 34-year-old singer told the Daily Mail that he picked up the injury after leaping from the stage at a gig in Ashville, North Carolina.
Blunt said: "I don't know what made me do it. I jumped off the stage at the end and was chased by women - and men - in the crowd. I started running and the next thing I knew, I had a broken finger.
"I don't even know how I did it. I can't play the piano, but I can still play the guitar with my remaining fingers."
Blunt recently came second in a poll to find the music that sends Britons off to sleep.
