Dizzee questions Glasto Jay-Z choice

Dizzee Rascal has described Jay-Z as a "funny" choice of headliner for Glastonbury.

The UK rapper said he was pleased to see hip-hop acts performing high up on the festival bill, but said he was surprised that organisers chose an act with little crossover appeal.

He suggested that a performer like Eminem or Kanye West may have fitted more snugly with the summer event's traditional style.

"I don't know if Jay-Z has got that crossover element, " Rascal told the BBC. "Kanye West or Eminem, they've both got that. Jay-Z is a bit of a funny one.

"It's amazing to me man, as a fan that's just like wow. I never saw that coming and I could never picture Jay-Z at Glastonbury but it's all good."

Rascal will play the Park Stage at this year's bash, following a guest appearance during the Arctic Monkeys' headline slot in 2007.

Oasis's Noel Gallagher blamed Jay-Z for the lower number of ticket registrations for the festival, claiming that hip-hop was "wrong" for Glastonbury.

Organiser Emily Eavis defended the decision, insisting that the crowd would go "absolutely mental" when the rapper played his hit single '99 Problems'.
