Former Pink Floyd star Roger Waters has offered his support to US presidential candidate Barack Obama at the Coachella Festival.

The veteran musician made a strong political statement against the current government during his performance at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California.

Waters released an inflatable blow-up pig from the stage with the words "Don't be led to the slaughter" written on its side. It also featured a cartoon of Uncle Sam holding two meat cleavers.

According to the Associated Press, underneath the pig was a ballot paper with Obama's name ticked.

Waters recently described Obama's Democrat rival Hillary Clinton as "ghastly".
