Fratellis proud of "personal" album
Published Thursday, May 1 2008, 09:42 BST | By Alex Fletcher

The 'Chelsea Dagger' rockers admitted that their first album didn't make much sense lyrically, but argued that their follow-up Here We Stand shows a new maturity in their songwriting.
Singer Jon Lawler told The Sun: "We’re really proud of it. For the first time I really concentrated on the words.
"I felt a bit schizophrenic when I read them back. They’re really revealing and personal in places.
“A lot of the songs on the first record don’t make a great amount of sense. There are bits of that record I’ll just skip through if I’m listening to it again, and I don’t think that’s a good thing."
Responding to accusations of musical plagiarism, the frontman said: "I can never pretend what we do is original. We never steal things directly.
"But we’ve taken those influences and given them our own spin."
