Coldplay single reaches 600,000 downloads

The band announced that the single would be available for free via Coldplay.com on April 29. Within 12 hours more than 300,000 downloads had been registered. The figure doubled overnight as other countries logged on to the website.
'Violet Hill' will be available for free until May 6. The track will then be available to purchase online as a digital download.
Coldplay's new album Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends will be released on June 12.
