The 60-year-old, who will appear at this year's Glastonbury Festival, revealed that he admires the way Minogue has reinvented herself.
He said he now has a more contemporary image and is looking forward to demonstrating that he is still relevant 20 years after the peak of his career in the '80s.
Contactmusic quotes him as saying: "Rod Stewart doesn't wear leotards anymore, Elton John has taken off the platforms [shoes] and Tom Jones's trousers are a bit looser.
"I look different and sound different and now it would be nice to show people what I can do in a more contemporary way."
He added: "Look at Kylie. She's changed and adapted but still kept her fans. That's what I want to do."
