Eurovision organisers have criticised Terry Wogan for his light-hearted take on the singing contest.

Boss Bjorn Erichsen said Wogan made the TV show look "ridiculous" because of his comic commentary style.

The Radio 2 DJ has presented coverage of Eurovision every year since 1980.

Erichsen told The Mirror: "Terry Wogan is a problem because he makes it ridiculous. I know he is very popular and maybe that's the reason a lot of people watch."

He claimed that the UK should follow Sweden's approach and show some "love and respect" for the competition.

This year's Eurovison takes place in Belgrade on May 24. Former X Factor contestant Andy Abraham is representing the UK.
