The pair have been attempting to record a track together since the Babyshambles frontman was released from jail last week.
Earlier this week the duo visited the Jazz After Dark club in Soho at 2am for a practice session, but have not yet come up with any finished tunes.
According to The Mirror, the soul singer told Doherty that all his songs were "s**t".
A source said: "Amy has thrown back every song Pete has written for her. She keeps telling him it's rubbish - and worse - she'll only perform if the song is great.
"When she's in the studio she can be ruthless and doesn't care about hurting people. Pete's really struggling to get it together. It hasn't clicked yet."
