Speaking to BBC 6 Music from the Shared Responsibility event in Trafalgar Square, James said that he thought a reunion was a possibility.
"We're all pretty busy but I'd be surprised if [a reunion] never happens. But I would be terrified if it was happening on Monday."
Rising to fame amid the wave of Britpop in the '90s, Blur notched up two number one singles and released seven albums between 1991 and 2003. They recorded their last LP Think Tank as a three-piece following guitarist Graham Coxon's exit from the band.
James, Coxon, singer Damon Albarn and drummer Dave Rowntree were expected to reunite to work on new material at the end of last year but the recording sessions never took place.
