The X Factor runner-up is a 100-1 outsider with bookmakers to scoop victory with his song 'Even If' in Serbia.
However, he told Metro: "The song’s good enough to go top ten or even win it. If it’s down to the whole voting situation, though, I’m not holding my breath, put it that way."
Talking about criticism of the apparent political voting on the show, he said: "Austria hasn’t entered this year because of [it]. If they had established music execs from each country and well-known artists voting instead of the general public, maybe they’d vote for the best quality [entry]."
The 43-year-old added: "People are saying my song’s too good for Eurovision. I don’t know about that. I just hope people judge me on my performance."
Commentator Terry Wogan recently said that he fears UK fans will be disenchanted if the country scores poorly again.
The Eurovision Song Contest airs tomorrow at 8pm on BBC One.
