In an interview with Word, Greenwood admitted that he went deaf after using the wrong type of headphones.
Describing the ordeal as "a f**king nightmare", Greenwood was relieved when his hearing returned.
"It came back, mostly," he said. "It doesn't feel like I'm talking to people underwater anymore."
However, the 38-year-old confessed that he would often experience discomfort while he was recovering.
"For a few months afterwards I'd be watching the telly and suddenly hear these high-pitched whistling noises as more and more high frequencies came back."
