Woolworths ends CD singles sales

Woolworths has confirmed that it will cease selling CD singles from August.
The high street store claimed the singles market was in "terminal decline" because of the increase in digital downloads.
Commercial director Jim Batchelor said: "Digital downloading is now the true customer choice for listening and purchasing single music tracks.
"CDs are alive and well for album sales, but unfortunately the physical singles market is in terminal decline."
Woolworths will still stock releases such as the X Factor winner's single, which regularly sell hundreds of thousands of copies.
The CD singles market is less than a sixth of what it was eight years ago.
